Dear Alice Birney Families,

On behalf of our entire team, I extend a warm welcome to each of you. At Alice Birney Dual Language Immersion School, we are proud to have a dedicated and professional staff committed to the academic success and social development of every child. We encourage our students to strive for excellence in all areas and to be Goal-Driven, Respectful, and Responsible Citizens.

My passion lies in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace, supported with the individualized guidance they need to succeed. This year, we will continue implementing our school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. This proactive system helps define, teach, and reinforce positive behavior. Students earn GRR Tickets for meeting school expectations and can redeem their GRR Tickets at our GRR Store.

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success. Open communication is key, and we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher or our office staff anytime you have questions or concerns. Your involvement and support truly make a lasting impact.

We also invite all families to be active participants in our school community. Consider joining our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) or School Site Council (SSC), or attending school events throughout the year. Your voice matters, and your participation helps shape our school.

A friendly reminder: attendance is critical to your child’s academic progress. If your child eats breakfast at school, please ensure they arrive by 7:00 a.m. to allow enough time to eat. Breakfast service ends at 7:30 a.m., and the school day begins promptly at 7:35 a.m.

En nombre de todo nuestro equipo, les doy una cordial bienvenida. En Alice Birney Escuela de Inmersión Dual, nos enorgullece contar con un personal profesional y comprometido con el éxito académico y el desarrollo social de cada estudiante. Animamos a nuestros alumnos a esforzarse por alcanzar la excelencia en todas las áreas y a ser Ciudadanos Enfocados en Metas, Respetuosos y Responsables.

Mi pasión es asegurar que cada estudiante tenga la oportunidad de aprender y crecer a su propio ritmo, con el apoyo individualizado que necesite para alcanzar el éxito. Este año continuaremos implementando nuestro sistema escolar de Intervenciones y Apoyos Conductuales Positivos (PBIS, por sus siglas en inglés). Este enfoque proactivo nos ayuda a definir, enseñar y reforzar conductas positivas. Los estudiantes ganan Boletos GRR por cumplir con las expectativas escolares y pueden canjear sus Boletos GRR en nuestra tienda GRR.

Creemos firmemente que una colaboración sólida entre el hogar y la escuela es esencial para el éxito de los estudiantes. Un recordatorio amistoso: la asistencia es fundamental para el progreso académico de su hijo(a). El servicio de desayuno termina a las 7:30 a.m. y el día escolar comienza puntualmente a las 7:35 a.m.

Greetings Birney Families,

I am excited to welcome you back to Birney for the 25-26 school year.  As your assistant principal, I remain committed to supporting our students, staff, and families alongside Mrs. Paez Herrera, in continuing to grow this amazing school community. My goal is to provide all of our students with a safe and positive environment, conducive to high levels of learning. 

We want students to thrive and reach their full potential. This year we are placing a strong focus on consistent daily attendance. Being present every day, on time, and staying for the full school day plays a critical role in our students’ academic and social success. The year ahead is full of new opportunities and I can’t wait to connect with all of our new and continuing students and their families. 

The partnership between home and school is essential to student success. With this in mind, I welcome your conversation and collaboration throughout this year so please do not hesitate to say hello as you see me around the school.

Me emociona darles la bienvenida de nuevo a Birney para el año escolar 2025-2026. Como su subdirectora, sigo comprometida a apoyar a nuestros estudiantes, al personal y a las familias junto a la Sra. Paez Herrera, con el fin de continuar fortaleciendo esta increíble comunidad escolar. Mi meta es brindar a todos nuestros estudiantes un ambiente seguro y positivo que favorezca altos niveles de aprendizaje.

Queremos que nuestros estudiantes prosperen y alcancen su máximo potencial. Este año, pondremos un fuerte énfasis en la asistencia diaria constante. Estar presentes todos los días, llegar a tiempo y permanecer durante toda la jornada escolar desempeña un papel fundamental en el éxito académico y social de nuestros estudiantes. Este nuevo ciclo escolar está lleno de oportunidades, y estoy deseando conectar con todos nuestros estudiantes nuevos y continuos, así como con sus familias.
